Just keep in mind, LadyV, you can't trust anybody!

And, you might get some people here - really slamming Burpee for a number of reasons. I won't be doing that . . . even if I've got all the downloaded WikiLeak files on 'em :p.

ArborDayFoundation has a zipcode lookup for hardiness zones. You might be surprised how they've got Winslow listed . . .

Keep in mind that ArborDay folks and the USDA don't agree on everything or even, much. The USDA stopped accounting for temperature data in 1990, I believe it was. Maybe the USDA doesn't trust the Weather Service ;).

I looked on three different sites where I put in my zip code. I am in zone 6, zone 7, or zone 7b, depending on which site I look at. To me, that means if I look at a tree that does well in zones 5,6,7,and 8, I'll consider it.

The thing to understand is that your weather doesn't read zone maps. So you could be in zone 7 but have a zone 5 winter.

GDD's in NE Indiana last year were 3600. Normal for us is 3300. In 2009 we got less than 2900. Now how do you put a zone on us?

I always preferred the Sunset zones. They take a lot more than the severity of the Winter into consideration.
