My kids are notorious for running around barefoot and stepping on bees in the clover. So when ever they get stung DH takes some chewing tobacco out of his mouth and puts it on the sting. I thought it was the grossest thing in the world! But last week I was thinning out the corn and got stung by a wasp. DH put some wet nasty tobacco on it and within 10 minutes I didn't even remember which finger had gotten stung. It was the only time in our married life I've been thankful that he chews

Back in the 50's and 60's, while in the country at my grandparents, I was FOREVER getting stung (just HAD to poke those wasp nests with a stick and run....sometimes not fast enough). My grandmother dipped snuff and it always worked for me, too. She always said that the tobacco would "draw" the poison out.

Plantain works the same way too, chew it up and apply it to the sting.
