Things like this are especially sad because the parents probably thought they were doing the right thing, for the boy's soul.
Then there are people who interpret the bible in odd ways, that twist "spare the rod and spoil the child" into "beat your child, don't pamper him."

Parents tried to get out of their crime by saying son molested young kids. Police proved never happened. Mother should hung her head, beating lasted 14 hours. That not punishment' thats torturer.

That's murder. By any definition. And those "parents" should not get off.
I know NY does not have a death penalty, but that's exactly what sort of crime demands it.
I can not even imagine the evil that would motivate a person to do that to another, especially their own child.
