I have at least a dozen flats of Cabbage, Broccoli, Cauliflower, and Brussel sprout starts in cell flats. Now these are root bound and held over from this spring. Each flat contains 36 cells. They still look healthy, with the exception they need planted. :th Do I go ahead and plant them for fall cold weather crop or feed them to the chickens and start a fresh batch? I am going to start some fresh for sale for the greenhouse. But wondered if I could use these for myself?

Either way some one will get dinner out of it :D  :gig

I'm in a different zone but I am planning on starting my cabbage and broccoli seeds in another week or so for the fall season. I'm not sure what your season is like. You might contact your extension agent to see what the recommendation is. What time do you normally set out these plants for your fall season.

That is a whole lot of plants. Are you growing them commercially? If it is just for your use, I'd plant a few to eat off of and feed the chickens the rest unless it is time for you to plant for the fall season. Even if they don't do well enough for you to eat, the chickens can eat them later.

I think that makes sense?

How do you feel about putting them in large containers you can move in and out of the shade... or get an umbrella to cover them during the hottest part of the day?! They would probably do fine down with afternoon shade and a good cool water misting when you shade them each day?!!?
