We left for Cal. on Friday 3:30 am. drove 75mph until Woodland, cal. where signs said there was a fatal accident and all lanes were closed. Take 505 detour... took cut off to Davis, Cal. and UCD ... took I 80 to go to Sactramento, Cal. a distance of 10+/- miles that took well over an hour of bumper to bumper traffic ( Ninny Mary and her enterage were on her way to her mountain cabin retreat) ha ha just kidding ). Then we hit the Sacramento rush hour traffic that took another 1 1/2 hours until we came to Manteca cut off to Hwy 99 that ate up another hour and one half. We arrived at the twins home at 8:49PM. Had dinner and fell into bed. We saw MANY trees either DEAD or DYING all along the highways in Cal. due to the drought. Hey NYboy ... just for your enjoyment of planting fruit trees... just south of Red Bluff, Cal. there are new plantings of almond trees on former beef cattle range land. One orchard of Almond trees planted stretching for 15 miles on both sides of I 5 and as far inland as you can see. Then another 20 miles later there were olive tree plantings on both sides on I 5 of orchards that stretched for at least mile or more for each orchard. Then at 92 miles from Sacramento, Cal. RICE patties on both sides of I 5 as far as the eye can see stretching all the way to the Sacramento River . Rice elevators at every 5 miles along that highway route. My wife and I held the twins and fed them their formula all day on Sat. and this morning too.
