Can anyone tell me the name of this ornamental vine?

My MIL gave me two of these starts off of her very large one last fall. They are doing great and have filled out so much since I got them. She bought the vine on sale many years ago and it didn't have a tag. I've scoured so many plant catalogs and I've never seen anything like it in any of them!

It is rather grape-like in most of it's characteristics. Some of the leaves will be varigated, some will be solid, all on the same plant. The older the specimen, the darker the cranberry color of the vine itself, much darker than mine pictured here. The leaves are also larger on an older specimen, but smaller than a grape vine, about 3" in width. It produces a blue grape-like cluster of berries (the berries on mine are just getting started) that as it ages turns to a really neat PEARL color, they look like clusters of little pearls. They are not edible, to my knowledge. The birds don't seem to care for them either. The japanese beetles LOVE the leaves of this plant and will chew it up quickly if you don't take care of them.

Anybody seen one of these before or know anything about it's propagation? I am thinking it should reproduce well from cuttings, although I haven't tried it yet since mine are so small. These came from seed. The seeds do not reproduce readily. It doesn't spread from the roots either. My MIL was only able to get about 8 starts to give away to her friends/family. I got TWO, so you know my MIL must really love me!! :D

Looks like you've got a Variegated Porcelain Vine, journey!

We used to carry them at a greenhouse where I worked. They grow fast! Don't really know anything about propagation tho....

This link says they fruit best in full sun but variegation is best in part shade....interesting......

They are definitely quick growers! I remember having to untangle them from each other in our retail display area...

I've got mine in full sun...but then again, most everywhere up here on my hilltop is full sun!

When my neighbor inevitably asks me about it, I can just give her some seeds then. She's a gardener too and we're always taking a peek at what the other is growing. ;)
