I have a rhubarb plant started from last year and I was just curious if I could plant strawberries in the same bed with them. Would one take over the other eventually or could they exist together?

I don't know what zone you are in, but here rhubarb goes crazy.
It's like some kind of jungle plant. If I don't cut it all back a couple times during the summer it will take over a 6'-7' radius space per plant!

I think you're really better off keeping them separated. Rhubarb needs to be well-manured (with composted manure) in the spring and then will shade the area around it as it gets big. You could have them at different ends of the same bed, of course, but I would not try to intermix them, the rhubarb might not care too much but the strawberries would suffer.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat
