Hi all! Newbie here! I hope you can help, as the Green Thumb I hope to inherit from my mother is only now making its way to being 'brown'! ;-)

Here are the details:
I live in an condo, and my next door neighbors have moved, leaving a sad looking potted rose bush behind. Maintenance was just going to toss it, but instead, they let me have it. I was hoping to be able to revive it. I know it is seriously dried out and wasn't taken care of. All the leaves have fallen off.

I was wondering if it's dead or dormant? Here are some images to help you decipher it's health:

All the branches are shriveled like this

(Sorry, the next couple pics are sideways - don't know how to rotate!)

Is there any way to save it? *fingers crossed* I just hate to see roses get neglected! TIA! This forum is awesome! :)

I see some green on those stems- I wouldn't pronounce it dead!! Not sure about your climate, I would guess other roses might be dormant now?? Mine sure are! Give it some TLC, clean it up, and water it well. I predict a full recovery! Good luck, keep us posted...

Yep, I agree with Lesa, green stems = live tissue. Water until you see it drain from the bottom. Don't let it sit in a puddle in a drain tray, and don't fertilize until the leaves have about 2" of growth . Then full sun if you can give it. Icebergs are wonderful roses, good luck with it!

(looks like it probably just dried out, I don't see any diseased looking stems. Roses are surprisingly tough)

Yay, yay, yay! Thanks, lesa and thistlebloom! I will do my best to get this baby the care she needs! I'm going to clear all the dead leaves and water her, but I'm gonna YouTube some 'how to prune roses' videos just to ensure I don't get cutting happy! ;) Thank you, again! You both just made my day!
