My state is very lax on things being brought into state. Today I went to order grapes, I wanted Mars and Jupiter from raintree. They need very little spraying, for the first time something I wanted was not allowed in my state. What drives me crazy is I am 2 miles from CT border where it is allowed.

ever order from Double A Vineyards? they're in Fredionia so in your state. they get about $8.25 each for both, but Jupiter has a royalty fee in NY of .25 cents. they also sell other berry plants.

i did order raspberry canes from them a couple years ago and they were very good quality.

Out of curiosity have you figured out why they don't ship those to New York? In some cases they may be outright banned by the state for some reason. What possible reason could a politician have to ban a specific item? You tell me. Some are legitimate and some are political.

It might be that the state requires a specific disease-free certificate that the nursery can't provide. That doesn't mean the nursery stock is infected. It could be that the facilities to test for that disease are not readily or economically available for that nursery.

Maybe there is some type of royalty issue and the nursery can't be bothered with the extra paperwork or don't want to set up a different charge for shipping to certain states.

Grapes are a big business for New York State. I'm mot surprised the state would set up extra protection for that industry.

NY was one of a few states listed. Both are very well known nurserys, I did have to pay very smell royalty fee. I like the fact Double A Vineyard is family owned, I know that doesnt guaranty quality, but I feel better.
