Someone asked a week or so ago about how to grow garbanzo beans (chickpeas). I hadn't tried them before, nor had I read anything about them, but I planted some about 3-4 weeks ago, when I planted my regular peas. I actually planted garbanzo beans that I bought in a bulk food bin at the grocery store about 3 years ago, because I never found a source of seed. I soaked them for several hours and then planted them just like peas, except for the additional treatment of completely ignoring them. Well, wouldn't you know they actually came up! As I just confirmed, on a website, they look like common vetch . . . kind of. They are supposed to make pods by summer. I'll see if I can keep them alive long enough.
