When we fired up the bunkhouse for a friends arrival we found a broken water pipe. Daughter and I opened the outside wall and sweated a fitting and dried the rug that had been soaked in time to go to Reno to pick her up.

The Night before yesterday we got an Email from a neighbor of our place in the high desert, we had a lake in front of the house and he had thrown the breaker to shut off the well.
Yesterday daughter and I we went down and found the problem, a pipe under the kitchen sink, vacuumed and lifted the part of the rug that had been soaked. We lifted the heater vent and the carpet blocking off the vents escape so the heated air would travel under the carpet before exiting where we lifted it as it met the kitchen floor. The neighbor had saved us a much bigger problem had it gone on much longer. The water had poured into the heater vent, spilled under the house and run to the front where it could be seen from the road.

Well, what I mean to point out is I didn't Flip out, as the girls say, I fixed it calmly, in both cases. So" Let it be said, So, let it be written!"

What a mess, and what a blessing that your neighbor spotted it, and also that you were able to get there and fix it.
Pipes never break when it's convenient do they?

When dh was putting our tile floor in he happened upon a leaking pipe in the wall of the guest bath. As he pulled the old flooring out, the floor next to the tub was unusually damp, so he had to take the wall apart to find the leak. If he hadn't been taking the old flooring out who knows how long it would have dripped before we discovered it?

Yeah save the panic for after the problem is dealt with. Then blow off steam and frustration, or have a bowl of ice cream, preferably vanilla with fresh fruit. I know some people like chocolate.

You obviously did well and I like your attitude of being grateful it was not a lot worse instead of bemoaning how horrible it was.

You sound calm even. :) What a blessing to have good neighbors! Glad you are on a well and not expecting a giant water bill too.
