It IS a great idea, JoJo !

Imagine those kids as they go on thru life . "One generation plants a tree; the next generation gets the (fruit and the) shade.

Well, not entirely! For many years, I was able to make use of apples from a tree that I originally had at my country home but moved to Dad's backyard in the 70's.

Walking thru an urban neighborhood the other day , it seemed noteworthy to see a couple of apple trees in a yard. That shouldn't be so unusual - fruit trees should be common!

The number of fruit trees even in front yards , left a very favorable impression after my visits to small BC cities. Vancouver may just be catching up a little to the interests of the small town residents outside of urban centers .
