I was about to throw these mushy apple cores and peels on the compost heap after straining from making homemade vinegar...then I got to thinking...is it going to hurt my compost or help it?? Should I just give it to the chickens or will the alcohol from it be bad for them? what would YOU do with it?

I'd throw it on the compost heap and let them pick through it. If the alcohol is real strong, I'd probably toss it on there at night after they've gone to bed so the alcohol has a better chance to evaporate before they get to it. My chickens get to dig through the compost pile.

I don't think it will hurt your compost. If you are worried it will kill the bugs working in the compost, don't mix it in immediately or maybe set it aside where the alcohol can evaporate. But I really don't think it will hurt anything.

adding beer to a compost bin will do it no harm, it should actually help to break down the stuff quicker! so adding the cider apples, or ACV probably shouldn't hurt it. the chickens i don't think will be badly affected by the apples or vinegar since adding it to their water has a few benefits if they got to them.
