i have people i talk to in various places and ask around. i'm really not much of a shopper. especially this time of the year.

our local food store in town is good enough for some items. then once or twice a month we hit a bigger store further away that has better prices for staples/supplies. it happens to be near our favorite chinese food place so that makes the trip worth it to me. what we save on food prices we spend on gas and the meal out.

a few things i cannot get locally and order from on-line. not much though.

I read Amazon reviews for general stuff, even if I'm buying locally. I like to see what other people have to say about an items value.

For bigger ticket items I just google "__________ " reviews and gather info that way.

For plants I'm putting in a landscape that I'm not real familiar with I read a lot of google information from nurseries, blogs, and regular folks to get a feel for whether it lives up to the hype.

Ebay saves time and gas I always hit the free shipping button. I just type in what i want hit search then hit ads with free shipping BINGO
