Well, it looks like a new and different pest has invaded my garden this year! I saw red and broken stalks this morning with holes in them, so when I googled what I was looking at, I discovered corn stalk borers were what's causing the trouble. Anyway, I read that weeds can harbor them, and I have admittedly let the weeds in the corn get out of hand. But on another website, they said that pulling all the weeds will just drive the borers INTO the corn if they're not already there. AND there doesn't seem to be anything really to do about them once they're in there. So what to do now? Anyone have experience with these pests? If so, what did you do?

Learn to love to fish. Make great bait. Except for Bt gene, not much as even the window for insecticides to work is very small. Has nothing to do with weeds. Although weeds make the plants more susceptible to insect damage.
