I finally managed to get the cuttings planted that I got while at the hospital with Ashley. Plus I finally got the passion vine out of water and down in dirt. So this is what I did today along with the 10,000 loads of laundry done in the crick...lol! The passion vine is off to the side, everything else is cuttings I got while at the hospital. I'm not sure what type of tree/bush the cuttings are from but it was a nice looking tree so....the sweet potato and begonia are already starting to root so I left it them in water. There are also a couple of flower cuttings that I don't know what they are but the blooms were pretty. Joe says the caladium probably will not root but they are pretty so I left them too :)

Cool!
The big shiny leaf is Magnolia.
Nice collecting.
I would remove much more leaf matter. Others will disagree I'm sure.
A leaf collects sun light to make food but it also transpires fluids to the atmosphere. Until Roots start the leaf looses its store to the air.

Like Cati, they have evolved to store water for long periods of time!

A few small leaves at the tip is what I "shoot" for.
When a new leaf starts you know it has taken root!
Might not be much root but it has started!

Oh where were we? Oh yes nice collection!
Any questions feel free to ask.

I also see a nice begonia there!
I would remove the older leaves on that and also any blooms!
We want to set root, not bloom. Give it long hours of light, like spring time. Near any light will do just as long as it gets more hours of light.

When it sets good root we can go over forcing it to bloom.
I know this is my first mention of force , but plants can be forced to do things! And they don't mind either! :happy_flower

I was hoping those were magnolia. Do all magnolias flower? I know that some do not smell good but they sure are pretty! As per your advice I snipped all but a couple of leaves from the 3 begonias. Them and the sweet potato are already rooting! I am undecided what to do with the sweet potato - outside or inside? It reminds me very much of a pothos, which I love.....lol.

There are also 3 different color of hibiscus there - one red, one yellow with red center, and one pink. I won't know which is which until they bloom....lol! There is also some yellow verbana to go with my other 2 colors. In the 3rd pic you can see a 4-pack planted right next to the white/blue vase - don't know what type of flower this one is. Then in the same pic you can see the 2 little single starts on the opposite side - not sure what those are either. The verbana is smack in the middle in the 2nd 4-pack.

Anyway, crossing my fingers they all take. Then I'll be freaked out trying to figure out where to plant them all

Look how pretty this is! Same family as the sweet potato, different color. Wouldn't the both of them look pretty together? Or maybe some darker green-type foliage to offset the white variegation?

You guys do know this is not related to the sweet potato we all know and love and eat on Thanksgiving?

Instead it is an Impomoea (The Morning Glory Family) !

Yes I do know.
I had a red one a few years ago. I think I need it again!
