Hi everyone! I'm all over the place on BYC and SS, but this is my first post here.

I live in the woods and am absolutely surrounded by daffodils. Someone planted them here in the 70's and they went loonie. I'd like to give some to a few friends, and also to move them to my garden area. They are sending up green stuff already (about 3 inches), will I kill them if I move them at this point in the season?

You can, but I would wait until after they bloom and the leaves die back. Dig them up then and your friends can plant them in the fall for blooms next spring. If you can dig out a large enough clump that you aren't damaging too many roots you can move them now. They are fairly forgiving, especially when the soil is damp. They may not give you the blooms you are used to seeing if you move them now tho'. :)

I agree with bid about moving them later, after the leaves have wilted!

Remember to plant them deep when you relocate them...! They do best that way. :D
