Many claim to be natural, and that may sound safe , but dietary supplements send thousands to the Emergency Room. In a report published in last week's New England Journal of Medicine, the riskiest ones are weight loss and energy boosting products. These products caused 72% involving chest pain or irregular heart beats . So ask your Doctor before taking any supplements as they could cause interference with prescription medications .Certain vitamins , especially in high doses, are known to be harmful, such as beta- carotene and vitamin A . :caf One of the biggest pushers of these types of supplements on a afternoon TV show as well as on the many daily Internet ads is the snake oil type salesman doctor who is lining his pockets while many end up in ER. :th

Supplements are not easily absorbed by the body. The body absorbs vitamins and nutrients from whole foods much better.

I've seen a lot in the news lately about overdoses of supplements. They don't say but reading between the lines, it seems that nearly all the ODs are from weight loss, muscle building and sexual enhancement supplements. The ones that give unreasonable expectations. You don't hear of too many over doses on ginger or fish oil.
