We are eating a lot more fresh this time of year. I have not bought canned anything for weeks. Wish I had some place for a cow, pig and chicks! Then we would be set.

Now we are talking!!!!! I'd LOVE to have at least a pig and buy 1/2 a cow!!!! I would hardly ever have to step foot in a grocery store!!!! I want to make my own noodles, spaghetti, bread but I know I'm probably just dreaming..... but I know where I can get a pasta press for 50 bucks!!!!! :D.... So it might not be a dream after all.....

Dinner tonight was at a local restaurant. Well worth it IMHO.

Not because I particularly like the food . . . . or the ambiance . . . . or the prices, . . . . . but because we stopped to eat after getting Dear Spouse through an appointment TO THE EAR SPECIALIST! Hip! Hip! Hooray for me. Within a few short days (weeks?) we should be able to communicate without shouting once again.

'Course, after 40+ years you might assume we have little left to say, but he always manages a few complaints and compliments each day. The compliments I wouldn't want to miss.

Dew, I have a real easy recipe for noodles, No need for a pasta press. Just roll and cut. You can use a special rolling pin for cutting or a pasta press makes real quick work and EVEN noodles. But not needed. MY MIL makes them for the grown son's Birthdays. They keep a long time when dry. Either on the shelf or longer in the freezer. Just flour, egg and milk!

That is what Monty said his recipe calls for too. I'd really like to have a bread machine too!!!! I could make my own bread with out one but it would be a lot easier with a machine IMO. I'm looking for something that will keep a while.

Crash hot potatoes I don't bake mine, but rather fry them in a deep cast iron skillet. I also add a piece of bacon on top or sometimes some shredded cheese. They really lend themselves to improvisation.
