Do you grow your cukes on the ground or on a fence?

I have always grown mine on the ground but I am considering growing them on something because I have heard it is easier this way. Does anyone else have an opinion on this?

More for space than anything else, but we grow our cucumbers between rows or corn. We love the way it looks and it helps anchor the corn. Also, cucumbers repel raccoons, which I don't know why but they seem not eat the corn with cucumbers planted near them. We plant dwarf marigolds at the base of the corn as well to keep pests away.

We've also planted cucumbers along the fences.

Overall I think it helps keep the fruits off of the ground and helps keep them away from ground pests.
