A few days ago I started getting these weird "helpful" underlined words interspersed in the questions and answers on this forum. If my curser pauses on an underlined word, an ad comes up. This is something new and very annoying to me. Don't know if it's something on my computer, or something our administrators added to help with expenses. If it is a necessary evil, so be it, but if I am the only one who has it, I'm gonna have to figure out how to get rid of it.:/
Edited to add the word "help" is underlined in the above text, by "text enhance" Grrr!

Could you link to one of these so we can see what you are talking about? Some people put links in that way, but I don't remember any leading to adds from the ones our members put in. They usually go to articles.

You could also go to one and report it to a moderator to see what they say. But this is too general for me to know how to answer. I'd need a specific example.

OK, I just did a little checking on other sites and it is EVERYWHERE, so it is apparently, as Dave2000 says, something that glommed onto my computer program. Dave2000 I appreciate your offer to help. I was going to PM you, but thought I better ask my BIL to take a look. He is an IT guy, and can take over my computer by remote. I'll bake him a pie and then try to bribe him into fixing it! lol

So, yet another reason to:

1. Be choosey about what sites you visit.
2. Run a good anti-virus+ program.
3. Use a firewall.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. ;)

Intellitext advertising is very common on the internet, though it is strange for you to start seeing it all of a sudden unless there is either malware added on to your browser OR you used to have a plugin that blocked that sort of thing or a hosts file or firewall/etc. that was blocking it. Just in case you do have an infection I wouldn't be doing any online banking or similar until the system is determined to be clean.

No, I don't do my banking online, anyway. I have two grand daughters that take over my computer when they are here. Even tho there are only a few kid-friendly sites I let them go to, the littlest one has a knack for following a flashing light, I guess, and has gone off into a whole new dimension occasionally, it seems. So I will blame my 4-year old grand daughter for this, for now.
We are supposed to have malware blockers and frequent virus scans built into the software that BIL is using, but I do understand that it can't protect me from carelessness and/or ignorance. Too bad: if I had something that could protect me from my own ignorance, I'd have something!

I had my Facebook and yahoo mail hacked by a XXX site. They changed my passwords. I was able to recover
pretty easily. I don't know what they would even want with me???
