hello everyone, i have a bird donation plant. i was wondering if it is something to leave be or if i should try to get rid of it. its has a really pretty maroon color stem and lime colored leaves. it's about 3 -4 feet tall, with green berries that turn black. i have this plant and another starting about 1 foot tall. if any one knows the name, i'd like to do further research to see if he's a keeper or not. thank you in advance!

back corner of my yard

I find them decorative.

Better choice than having a castor bean around.

Its "pokeweed" It's actually edible ONLY when the shoots are 8 inches or less (I'm not suggesting ANYONE eat this, unless you know your stuff on foraging wild plants!!) I usually boi the young shoots, changing the water three times. It taste just like asparagus! But shoots any taller than 8 inches and this plant is DEADLY POISONOUS!!

It's okay.

We needed a guy with some experience with it. My experience: lookin' at it.

(Also, I remember that Elvis song about Annie ;).)
