I'm having a little trouble with choosing whether to get dwarf or standard size fruit trees. There's a few i want to plant, but for sweet cherries for instance i like black tartarian but i can't find them on dwarf trees only standard and i dont have that much room in the garden for a big tree.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! ;)

Thanks!

I went ahead and ordered standard trees for us this year. They will take more time before they bear(I think) but will live longer, and we want them to be there for the kids and grandkids.
I had dwarf trees once, and they still took plenty of space, seems like the standard are mostly just taller and harder to pick from.
That is just my thoughts for what they are worth.. hope to see other opinions.

a friend of mine that has a tree farm told me that if you just trim them to the height you want and fertilize them and care for them well standards will do fine.

Thanks 4grandbabies & nightshade!! ;)

I'll go ahead and look for standards, i found that dwarf and standards both take the same number of years to bear fruit anyways so hopefully standards will do fine.

I don't know, I have researched these myself and the dwarf and semi dwarf trees fruit anywhere from a couple to a few years before standards.
From one of the charts I found it said that dwarf trees will fruit 2-3 years after planting, semis fruit 3-4 years after planting and standards fruit around the 7th year.
If it doesn't matter to you when they fruit then I wouldn't worry about it but if you are after fruit within the next few years I would look into it further.
