As the olive trees, being tropical, are doing so well, I have decided to add a few more tropical plants to my collection. Searching the web and looking for really unusual flowering tropical plant seeds, I found, ordered, and have begun germinating seeds for six really unusual tropical flowering plants. As there was brightly lit space at the end of the walkway that I felt was not being efficiently used, I decided to construct a small table to accommodate my future collection. Doing the math, I found that I could construct exactly what I needed from one 1" x 6" x 8' pressure treated board, if I used every square inch of the board. A trip to Home Depot and 45 minutes later I had my table. Ten minutes later Ava arrived, looked at the table, and said: Pop, that is exactly my size, can I have it to play with, you can always make another one Pop. Well, what can I say, after all tomorrow is her birthday anyway. I'll be heading back to Home Depot in the morning.

Yup, yup, yup! Lucky girl, lucky grand-pop!

I did much the same thing with my granddaughter (10). She made a small table in the shop and I absconded with it to use as a holder for the TV room phone. It was just the right size!

They sure do love it when things are "just my size". I'm sure you'll soon be receiving an invitation to a tea party... :)

A tea party is exactly what she is planning. She has all the necessary equipment in our basement, including a cash register with a debit card scanner, pretend of course. How quickly they learn. Ava graduates from Kindergarten on Wednesday, and the school year ends on Thursday, so my greenhouse assistant will be back for the summer very soon. :)

That's too cute! So you will have to pay to dine at your own table?

Are your schools on year-round schooling or did you have a lot of snow this year? That is a lot later than our kids got out.

Yeah, I guess so. I never thought about it that way.

This is a normal school year schedule for our area. She will go back about the second week of September. We only had about two snow days last winter.

Wasn't it a rolling stones tune, Under my thumb?

That little Ava! You'll be gonna have to make 2 of everything pretty soon. Make sure she goes to MIT or Harvard! She's a sharp one!
