I planted lettuce and radish seed directly in my hoop green house in February. I used very old seed as it seemed way too early. I just harvested the leaf lettuce as well as a small head of butter crunch lettuce and radishes. Wish I had planted more. Can't wait to bite into LIVE food.

Wow! Good for you! That was smart using the old seed- nothing ventured, nothing gained certainly proved out this time! Enjoy!

I always plant my old seed. Planted tomato seed from 2002 and they came up fine.-No special care-just got misplaced.

I always plant leaf lettuce too thick so I can thin it out and use the thinnings. There is just something about that tender baby letuce.

With asparagus, lettuce, radishes, kale, and chard, I've been bringing in something fresh from the garden every day for about three weeks. I'm a long way from a lot of things, but I should be able to bring something in every day from now until sometime in October. There's something special about that fresh food you just can't get from a freezer, jar, or can. It makes what we do worthwhile.
