I got some Elephant Garlic from the commissary yesterday. The only problem is I can't get to the commissary without my son (he is a GI...I am not) and he just went to Ft. Riley, KS. His next stop is Iraq :p Elephant garlic is NOT something I find at the regular grocery stores often. When I do find it it is expensive.

So I have 2 large bulbs. I was thinking of eating one and planting the other.

I obviously missed the fall planting deadline, but how soon can I plant? Does it have to be over 60 daytime temps?

Plant the cloves in pots indoors for now. Then plant the started plantlets
outside when it gets warmer -- that's what I did last year & I got a good crop.

Good luck & Happy New Year, Wifezilla ! :D :frow

I planted my garlic when it was quite cold- Novemberish... I would say if you can still work your ground, you could plant it now. I seem to remember you were snow covered. I put mine in the ground and mulched heavily with straw. You could try a few cloves in pots and a few in the ground. Good luck!
