Deeply Rooted
Well I must say I was not impressed with the total harvest of the English cukes I painstakingly fussed over. I planted some in my greenhouse this year for the first time. I thought the conditions couldn't be better for that variety, as I know they are usually grown commercially in hothouses.
I only managed two to three cukes per plant, and they were not the greatest taste, most being quite bitter. Now it may be the particular variety, but I won't bother with them again. They take up a lot of room in my little greenhouse, where I could be growing something else.
Now on the otherhand, my "Market-time cukes, in the veggie garden, did fantastic, and are still producing. They are sweet, and juicy. I have been harvesting them almost daily for the last month.
If you haven't tried Market-time variety before, they are well worth trying.
