Whats in a name I think Shakespeare asked that. I just purchased some Rip Van Winkle daffodils because of their name. Over the years I have purchased many plants just because of name. Have you?

Certainly I have purchased because of the name. I have Gypsy hyacinth and Gypsy broccoli. I tried pumpkin-on-a-stick (a type of eggplant), fried-egg plant, and I am sure plenty of others I can't remember right now.

Right. There were also Ugly pumpkins, Casper pumpkins, a series of president-named roses, etc.

Yep...Hillbilly tomatoes(can't go wrong with one named Hillbilly!), Brandywine tomatoes(those I kept in my wheelhouse as my all time favorite kind), Sweet One Hundreds(very descriptive), Mortgage Lifters(old timey mater that was supposed to get the farm out of hock...love the optimism), Candy sweet onions...for obvious reasons, Sugar Snap peas..again, obvious. Bodacious sweet corn...doesn't that just sound sinful?

The list goes on...names are important. If they lie, I never grow that again...if they deliver, I put them in my seed box for good.

I have avoided plants because of names.

Lemon Boy tomato ... but, now that I have grown it and know it isn't as tart as a lemon ...

I did grow Rose Quartz cherries but the thought of breaking a tooth every time I bit into one was a distraction.

I've enjoyed telling people that the flowers that they are looking at are Love in a Mist or Kiss Me Over the Garden Gate :).

Last year I bought White Nathalie echinacea, in honor of my grandma.
I had a little groundcover flower I bought because we shared a name. I think it passed away because I haven't noticed it for a few years.
