Fall garden

Hi Everyone, I am wanting to plant a fall garden... Our last frost date is Oct. 10.... I want to get seeds in the ground this week... Any ideas for things to plant?

Typical fall crops are garlic, green peas, mustard, turnips, cabbage, broccoli, carrots, lettuce, kale, chard, short season green beans, onions. I think some people plant a few potatoes. Chinese cabbage. Just about any greens.

Welcome and I am planting green onions, carrots, peas, broccoli, several types of lettuces and greens. I have my second batch of green beans in already. This is my first year of planting a fall garden. I have planted garlic in the fall but this is the first I am going to eat all fall and winter from my garden year.

Add beets and cauliflower to this and you've got me covered.

When you plant them depends on where you live.

Highpointfarm, where are you located? (General area) And I forgot to say,

I live in Western Oregon and some of the crops mentioned by other posters won't grow for us in the fall because there just isn't enough warm weather or light after September. We do grow lots of Kale, garlic, carrots, parsnips, beets, upland cress as well as fall and winter lettuce. The winter lettuce we cover with grow guard and harvest when the weather warms in the spring. We grow Kweik lettuce, a good flavored, dense butterhead that I highly recommend for cooler weather.
