I wanted to go to a local park and get some autumn pics, but haven't made it there yet so I took some pics of a few of my prettiest fall trees.

Ahhh so beautiful !! ;) This is Autumn all right. What kind of tree is that? Its so nice to see all the nice colors of the trees this time of the year. The trees around here are almost getting to the peak of fall foliage. I like raking the leaves too plus I collect as many as I can rake to use in the compost through the winter.

Thanks for the nice pictures!! :thumbsup

All except the last green/yellow one are a Purple Yew. The last one I don't know it was $1 at wally world several years ago b/c it was unmarked and end of the season. I figured it was cheap enough to take a chance on it.

My wife and I took a hike Monday through a nearby state park, Devils' Den. It's becoming an annual event for us. This year, the leaves were the best I've seen. The dogwoods were outstanding, especially when you could get the sun behind them. I like that yellow color of hickories, but usually there is a lot of brown mixed in that makes them look kind of dirty to me. Not this year. Just beautiful. Even a lot of the oaks that can be pretty brown were much more red. The maples have rivals this year. Even the Sumac is more bright red than usual.

I don't know what made them so outstanding this year, probably the hot dry summer and the cool relatively dry fall, but nature is making this fall outstanding in this part of the country.

Fall is the best time of year in Oklahoma and Arkansas. The heat is finally over and you can go outside and enjoy yourself. Spring is nice but in that part of the country sometimes Spring turns to hot summer all too quickly. Fall lasts long enough to enjoy it.

I would love fall if it were directly followed by spring.
There's a thought. Why put up with those hot Summers and icy Winters? :gig
