Sounds like they are following the example of France about 80-100 years ago, when they were gardening in the middle of Paris, and other cities. This was were they developed the "baby vegetables" that we read about. :D
They also have been reclaiming lots in New York City and gardening there, too.

Wifezilla...We all know they are wrong. I think I do pretty good with my garden here in the middle of "concrete jungle". ;) And yes, I do think gardeners here are soo nice and helpful!

I was very pleasantly surprised to learn that their are quite a few community gardens in my area. So many buildings have either burned or been torn down, that land is available in our "inner" city area. A wonderful use of land!!

I have a friend here in Raleigh whom I directed to one of Wifezilla's blog shares. About Gorilla gardening in the city and such. He walked a public trail he liked to hike... went off trail a bit and with a machette cleared out a 200 ft garden space he is now using for some fall crops he wants, pumpkins, squash, cukes and I gave him some pepper starts. From a distance no one knows its food. Looks like a tangly mess he says.

People need to do what they need to do! :D

Now think about this. This may seem off topic.but give me the benefit of the doubt. Solar Panels are built on every house in America. :frow

Ya know people always throw that word terrorism around. Personally, I am more worry about my own backyard and not being able to have food to eat. Actually there are people that are tens of thousands of miles away that are thinking the same thingand they have strangers in their backyards .telling them what to do.

What is our most exposed resource? The resource that is most likely to be exposed to a threat of some kind is our electrical grid. If that is destroyed, we are in deep do do. ( Do..do is a technical term.) :plbb

However, if every home had its own power supply there is no threat. My question is.where is our priorities in this country. I heard that 17 to 20% of all electricity is lost in just in the transmission of electricity to its final destination. :somad

Further, we can build them here and employ the army of people that need work and a decent living. :thumbsup

See, that's too easy an idea for the masses... big companies won't allow it, and they actually are the controllers of our governments currently if you hadn't noticed! :he

So the simpler of an idea, the more complicated someone who stands to lose a profit will make it... until that simple idea becomes so extreme the idea gets lost in paper work and never reaches a desk in Washington where it needs to be to make a difference!
