Hi,
Has anyone ever grown these kind of potatoes?, i was thinking of planting some, not sure if they grow different from the usual potatoes. They do sound quite interesting though maybe they have more flavor.

Thanks!

I just ordered mine from the "Maine potato lady". They are not good keepers, but are delicious. This is my first year planting them- so I'll keep you posted...

I am planting some tomorrow but I haven't done it before. I love fingerlings though!

They grow the same as regular, but as lesa said, not keepers. They make amazing potato salads though, much better than regular potatoes.

Oh My gosh I love fingerling potatoes! Reinbeau turned me onto them last year because I wasn't sure I whether wanted to try growing them or not and they are now my families favorite.
I grow a dozen different kinds of potatoes every year and even though the kids enjoy the blue and purple ones because of the color everyone agrees the fingerlings are by far the best tasting.
They are just so tender and have alot of flavor.
I prefer to steam mine, they don't take long and I just throw some butter on top.
They really don't need much.
I have grown the Swedish Peanut, Russian Banana and LaRatte.
They are all good but LaRatte were the most prolific.
They grow around the base of the main potatoe and they supposedly look like little suckling rats, I get what they mean but I don't think they look like rats.
I may try the french fingerlings this year, I already order my regular potatoes and the fingerlings so not sure how much room I have left.

Give em a try.
