so lucky
Garden Master
This morning I found a nice dark brown egg from one of our new girls who were hatched September 2nd. They are black copper Marans. I'm looking forward to eating our "farm" eggs again. Store-bought eggs are tasteless!

You always get exited and proud of them.
You always get exited and proud of them. And sometimes they're so proud of themselves!Good for her!.. and you
It is kind of funny, you'd think after the first hundred or so chickens it wouldn't be a big deal, but every time a new pullet lays her first egg it makes me so happy. You always get exited and proud of them.

I've had chickens for several years now and I never fail to get excited by those little pullet eggs (I call them chicken farts).

I got two layers to start with and they went into a molt. I bought ONE dozen store eggs and when the hens started laying again 3 months later, I still had one of those eggs left! (gave it to the dog)

(gave it to the dog)Give them a light bulb and you will get an egg in a week or two.i wish my ladies were laying like they used to. dh had to buy store eggs this week. only 1 girl seems to be laying and i think it's the only pullet i hatched last year. everyone looks like they have stopped molting and feathers have grown back, so here's hoping soon i will see more than 1 egg every other day in the box. i can't wait for my 2 peahens to start laying those gorgeous extra large eggs again!
I could give mine a light bulb, but there's no electricity in there, and I think they would just kick straw over the bulb.Give them a light bulb and you will get an egg in a week or two.
