On Sunday afternoon, we whent to see a production play at Jesuit High School in Portland, Ore. of "The Little Mermaid" . Our grandson ( 4th grade ) and his little sister ( first grade) made the audition cuts to perform in their first on stage performance. There were 78 kids on stage as well as all anging from Seniors in Highschool to first graders. The Jesuit High School Performing Arts Theater has a capacity of 300 seats. There were 5 SOLD OUT performances by the troop of kids. Grandson was a frog and granddaughter was a fish ( great performances by newbies ). Not only did the kids sang in great voices but there were kids from gymnastics classes that did tumbling and high ring acts at a very high level. THUNDEROUS APPLAUSE from the audiences that lasted for at least 5 minutes at the end. All of the stage props, music, lighting, etc. were all done by students. :clap:clap

Someone has a lot of courage to try to put something like that together. I saw some tremendous high school performances but they were all high school kids. It's hard to imagine what it took for first grade through high school and that many kids. You have an exceptional person putting that together. And with costumes and scenery they had some help.

You should be proud of those grandkids. Auditioning and making the cut. And keeping it together for all those practices and rehearsals, let alone five performances. :thumbsup

The Jesuit High School Fine Arts Dept. and about a dozen parents had a 2 week summer theater performance camp for grade school and high school kids , then the kids had to audition for being selected for the performance. The 5 open to the public shows were totally run by the students. All of our buttons are popped so we all are wearing sweat shirts now. As a reward and to wind down, son and his wife are taking the grandkids to Yosemite National Park for a week of exploring the wilderness. Then on to visit the 2 twin playmates and the rest of the wild bunch cousins for another week. Son is climbing the corporate ladder as he was just promoted to take his bosses' place to manage "production clean work rooms " , offices and grounds ( he now manages 6 campuses ) for a much larger number of High Tech companies' production facility campuses. :)
