I had an accident with my new car this morning.

First, I want to affirm that God is good. I didn't get hurt nor did I hurt anyone else.
Second, I want you to know it was foggy this morning.

I was driving to meet some retired teachers for breakfast and the fog had me a bit disoriented. I thought I was nearly at the second to last intersection when I saw a car turn -- not where the driveway would be, but where there was supposed to be lawn -- when suddenly the stop sign popped up then zipped past.

That cleared up the why of the turning car. It went not into a lawn but into the restaurant parking lot. I went through the intersection

but the road did not.

With great blessings there were no cars coming along this usually busy road. With great blessings there were no fences, trees, or buildings at the road's end.

I hit the brakes but the car did not slow down. For a split second I feared I might have stepped on the gas instead of the brakes. Then the car hit the ground with an "oomph" that reminded me of a Dukes of Hazard scene. I realized the brakes wouldn't have stopped the car as it flew through the air off the road and, indeed, wouldn't have worked until I'd landed anyway.

Once I landed the brakes stopped the car. I was easily able to cross the frozen lawn, get onto the driveway, and out of the yard where I stopped and watched 4 - 5 cars pass from each direction before I crossed the into the Sand Burr diner parking lot.

Shaken, I had more than my usual share of coffee to calm myself and a great story to tell.

I did stop later in the day to be sure I hadn't damaged the undercarriage or messed up the alignment. Nope. No damage to my car according to the dealership.

I'm still shaking deep inside and so grateful there was no serious damage. I can affirm that my Escape can fly short distances ... that it's not the fall, but the landing that gets you ... and that God is good all the time!

That had to be scary! A flying Escape! Ford does build some outstanding vehicles, but I didn't know that they flew!!!

Glad that you are ok and your new car wasn't hurt either.

It is a miracle that you didn't get hurt, hurt someone else, and that your car is ok. Glad you are safe.

I think you had an angel watching over you. How else can you explain it?
