Forum Feature Spotlight: @<Username> Tagging

Hey there fellow TEG Members!

Hope that all of you are having a blast using and exploring our new website platform. Since it is new, we've thought that it would be better if we highlight a New Forum Feature every now and then. This will help you get more familiar with the new features and hopefully let you have fun using it.

So, to start it off, let's talk about the @<Username> Tagging feature.

The @<Username> Tagging feature allows you to tag the members in a particular public message in threads. This will alert them that they were mentioned in a post even if they are not watching or following that particular thread.

All you have to do is press the @ symbol and start typing the username of the member. This will immediately appear:

Just select the member that you want to tag and then this will appear:

Once you posted this message, the system will automatically alert the member that he/she has been tagged in a post.



Isn't this great!?! Come on guys, try this out now!

@canesisters my first thought is a garlic clove and garlic press, but that green doesn't look right.

Does this mean we are no longer on first-name basis? Can I still call you Cane or are you going all formal?

Of course, you have to have the box checked in your alert preferences to get these tag alerts. Since I read from the New Posts, I end up reading everything so I undid almost all the alert preferences. I found the constant alerts distracting -- like the phone ringing and me not sure I want to answer it.

I just re-checked the tag alerts. I'll see how it goes for a while. Hey, does it know nick-names such as @SeedO or do we have to write the whole thing? Red works well for me, as it is.

What it will do, @Smart Red , is cue a little pop-up that will suggest who you might want to "tag" with your post. So, I typed @ s m a r - there is your name! Clicked their suggestion.

I don't know how the alerts work. I'm still kinda getting my feet under me. I did stop hovering my cursor over the arrow beside "members" and clicking "recent activity" tho! Yeah. I really don't need to know what is happening after those "BRB" posts!!
