I already have galangal, ginger and keifer (kaffir) lime for my makrut leaves. The only thing I was missing for hard to find Asian and Near East cooking was turmeric root and fresh rhizomes were a bear to find. I just received some nice plump rhizomes and got them into pots to start. Should be all set now to make Indian and Southeast Asian curries plus soups like Tom Yum.

So where did you find fresh rhizomes of tumeric root? And do you have to bring the rhizomes in each year if you live in colder areas?

I seldom go there any more but I found them on Ebay from a seller named michaels4gardens . You won't get the giant clump he shows in the picture but the ones I got were plump and healthy. He sent two small and one large rhizome. I was quite happy with what he sent.
Turmeric is a tropical/subtropical plant. If you get any hard frosts it would have to Winter over in a greenhouse.
