That's a little scary! I'd imagine that some actual felines met their maker if they crossed his path.

It's fun to realize how large some places are when you are usually looking at them on a map. I have seen very little of NYC and nothing brings that home like reading that metropolitan area is over 13,000 square miles ..! That's like 25 miles wide by 50 miles long, plus.

Let's see ... if I can cover Ireland with a penny ... I should be able to see the entire island over a weekend! There may be frogs but I won't need to worry about stepping on a snake.

NyBoy - I think that Steve meant that he wouldn't have to worry about stepping on a snake in Ireland. You know the legend of St. Patrick? (There were no snakes there in the first place just kind of using that as an example).

Also the only reason that you hear of the new species from tropical areas is because they usually end up being the most interesting (brightly colored, strange adaptations). New species are found all over, and it is a special thing.
