It was 34°f in Sandpoint, 29° in Deer Park this morning! Already freezing in Cheney when I got up this morning.

@thistlebloom did you have frost?

And, what have you been up to? We haven't seen you in several days.

I was in the garden before dawn and the hills to the east were so nicely defined with fog below, hanging above the lakes like white pillows on a dark couch. The neighbor's 2-story house sits on a hill in the valley and above the nearby countryside. I could see something white on its roof ...

I looked carefully at the metal roof of the hay barn beside the garden, checked a large sunflower leaf, decided I didn't need to get down and rub the grass ...

At 7AM, the fog moved right across the valley and it was darker than an hour before! The white on the neighbor's roof disappeared. It was a very damp moment.

Then the western horizon brightened and a band of bright blue sky appeared above those sunlit western hills! And, the danger frost passed.

Hey! I'm baaaack!...
You put that description of the morning so poetically Steve, I left the house under a blue sky and hadn't gone very far when I was driving in the fog. It lifted by the time dh and I got to the first job, and then what a beautiful day we had. Sunshine, blue sky and just warm enough to break into a tiny sweat. Haha.

We had a little frost on the windshield but no ice on the birdbaths (my weather monitor). The tomatoes were unscathed, but I'm pulling everything next week anyway. I just want to be done and get things cleaned up. The sunflowers will stay, they are just beginning to bloom.

Of, course I was. Have to have seal blubber for the lamps on those long dark winter days.
Also had to harvest the Iceburg lettuce and the bumper crop of snow peas and icicle radishes...

Three out of the last six mornings, that Weather Underground thermometer has fallen below 40°.

The coldest morning was 37°.
