All my fruit trees are busting with flower buds. I justed checked 7 day forecast, Sun, Mon and Tue nights will all be in the 20s. Worry fig trees I moved outside will died. so much for mellow winter.

I was looking at my plums and peaches yesterday. They are both well past petal drop and both were hit with frosts. Every small plum or peach I saw at the base of the flowers was brown and dead looking instead of green and growing. I'm not feeling good about my chances this year with them. The pears and apples are just starting to bloom with a light frost expected tomorrow. I'll probably be OK with them if I had enough chill days.

I tried hosing them down with water before the frost melted a couple of years ago. Did not help. I have the same problem this year as that year. It's not that I'm having late frosts. it's that I had early bloom. The result is the same.

I wish you luck NYBoy. Some years are great, some years not so much.

My friend Kristine's daughter has a part time job at local apple orchard. Going to be bad season for apples here, not enough chill hours.
