not many, but it appears that Burpee apologized for originally naming it that. i guess it is just really easy to pick the beans from the plant so it doesn't take much effort to get a quick harvest from them.

I saw that but my basil and parsley are very easy to pick and hey just outside the door, but I would call it lazy. I would rename the beans and put the awful name somewhere in the description as aka lazy wife beans.

Funny, Ha Ha! Or, funny, peculiar?

Fun Jen is an Asian leaf veggie I've had in the garden quite a few times. There should be a "Jen" around who would enjoy having Fun Jen in her garden ;)! Or, how about a "Beka?" Beka Santoh is another green that I finally grew in 2011 - mostly, to see how much different it is from Maruba Santoh (which doesn't really have a lady gardener's name :)). Maruba Santoh is a real, tender green that is so mild that it is very suitable for a salad ingredient!

Unfortunately, I found that Beka Santoh is almost identical to Fun Jen! I'm not sure that I want to grow 2 that I can't tell apart.

Okay, enuf of the fun with Asian names. How about a good old English, Bloody Butcher? Who the heck thought that Bloody Butcher sounds appetizing? It's not only the name of a rather exotically colored sweet corn but it's a tomato I often grow in my garden. Calling it a "Jolly Rancher" keeps us from avoiding it when the fruit is ripe .

I think Fedco Seed carries all these varieties. They also have some folks' ideas of good names for things new and different. Quite innovative, one guy is in his plant breeding and naming! How about Be My Baby cherry tomatoes? Then, the same person is responsible for Jaluv An Attitude peppers!

I guess these are "funny cute" except for that Bloody Butcher! Nope, I'd rather not think too much about fun with that one . . .

Steve :/

yeah, the bloody butcher i always seem to pass on by when i've seen seeds for both the tomato and the corn. just doesn't sound appealing at all.

i've come across some interesting names for hosta over the past few years. there are sooo many types out there they are now running low on names they can call them! seems fun to tell someone i have Mighty Mouse in my garden! i also have a collection of Tiaras that i can't wear! (i'm no princess and i'd rather have a dirt manicure than be in any beauty contests!). i'm on the lookout for the Ferengi Gold daylily next year! it has to go with my Star Trek themed hostas that my dh seems to appreciate!

i'll have to look into that Fun Jen for my sister. she might like to try some of it!
