yep, that's Lupine! we have it growing all over the place here in NH! Route 101 going from Epping to Manchester has tons of them that keep on spreading naturally for years. my neighbors have lots of them too and i've been tempted to sneak over to their yard and snag a few for myself! :p

More specifically it's a Texas bluebonnet. An acre of them must be dazzling!
They're bigger than the blubonnets I'm used to, like a bluebonnet on steroids. Most of the plants haven't bloomed yet, I just noticed the first flowers yesterday, but it will be beautiful in a week or so. I'll make sure to get pictures. This is our first spring on the property (we bought it 8 months ago) so we're getting all sorts of suprises.

Than it probably is feral Lupine if it's big - I haven't seen a Lupine in person (in bloom) for over 2 years (that darn cat!), and I didn't recognise the flower, but I remembered those weird leaves! Thanks to that cat I have to reseed my Lupines. grrr.....

Whatever you call them, they are beautiful! :p We have tons of them around here, too and I always look forward to them and the California Poppies.
