The first topic about what if we all wrote a garden book together, shows that there is an interest in doing it.

Thinking about it and doing it are 2 different things. Short of finding a type A person to take charge of getting it going, I'll do my best to bring us to the next phase of this project.

Begin developing an outline.

As any good college student will agree, when ya have a big project, take it one step at a time.

I'll try to make a RAW list of what people have expressed interest in writing a chapter about.
This raw list will need some time to be modified and added to

Then the raw list can begin to get sequenced. Chapters will belong to larger units, because this book is on a wide range of topics.

Making some espresso right now...

I will try to be the initial organizer and interim editor until we get a real type A personality
I'm just a type b person, so will entertain all suggestions

As you can see, this is a very raw list that needs

a) lining up in a good sequence
b) more topics to fill it out...for example, there is nothing about mushrooms or mycorrhizae in it yet

Once we get this list lined up and improved, with the names of each chapter's team persons, and before getting to the actual writing, each chapter will need to be subdivided into subsections. Harvesting dry peas is different than harvesting snap peas. dry pea harvesting includes pulling the plant up...for example...harvesting finished criops, harvesting continuing crops...

I see that you have dahlias and snapdragons listed. Are we going to have one section on general gardening, one on veggies, and one on flowers?

These past few years I have concentrated on the vegetables and let my flower gardens go quite a bit, but they are very different animals in their nature.

That's a good question smart red.

How we format this book.
I'm pretty sure it is too wide ranging in toipics to only have a single unit or section of chapters. Some may see flowers as a crop, others might see flowers as landscaping...

hmmmmmmmmm, and some integrate the two as edible landscaping.

How about we begin by sorting the chapters first, and then see where natural divisions fall?

While sorting these chapters, we should be assigning teams for each chapter.

ha! I look at what I wrote and see myself being like a manager or something! sorry '
bout that! :hide

What i did to make this list was open a 2nd browser and went to the original topic about the book idea, and slowly scrolled down, flipping to the reply box for this here topic. I basically typed in the chapter sections and added a few that seemed to present themselves.

Wow, there's a lot there. I think some of those we may be able to combine under the same chapter.

That's an excellent idea Journey. Would you retype this list of chapters with some of them combined or renamed as you think it could be done? please. :)

I can see this turning into something to rival The Rise And Fall of the Roman Empire! :hide
