Someone was giving away 3 solid wood interior flat doors. Hubby picked them up and we're going to turn 2 into benches, and the 3rd will be the actual garden table we've been talking about FOREVER and never got to. :D Wooohooo!!!

I'll have to take pictures to share when the weather cools down enough to do any of these projects.

I check Craugslist 2 or 3 time a day. Haven't scored anything, yet.
The other day I joined the local Freecycle Group. I like it, better, because new listings are sent to members email. When something gets taken, you list it as taken. But....it's easier to buy a gun than join Freecycle.......with all the stuff you have to fill out. But it's worth the extra trouble.

Good for you Vfem! It makes me feel good when good things happen to you! I love reading your posts and your caring for people that comes through. :)

I never find anything good on craigslist.! :( But so many people do. Maybe, I just have bad luck?

That was extremely sweet of you to say! :love

I don't think its bad luck, I think that its when my husband has the day off, and as he works for himself its quite a bit lately.... he spends a good hour or 2 that day on craigslist finding STUFF! :tongue Some of which he drags home, and I quickly give away!

I remember (boy this is going back) when the towm dumps were open to the public. Many a house was furnished with pickings from the dump.

I am amazed at the valuable stuff folks leave at the landfill rather than donate to someone... anyone. I haul garbage there from my family and some tenants weekly. They have inmates working there and they used to let them help people unload. One trustee entrepreneur started pulling the good stuff to the side and if you asked about it, he'd give it to you saying,"All we ask is a donation." Only once did I get too cheap and he turned down my offer, so I gave him a little more. I started leaving with more than I came in with...a shop worktable, lots of tools, some expensive animal cages, an antique steamer trunk ($20), an entire truck bed of good quality paint (that was always free)...That guy would come running up when he saw me driving up with his cigarette money. He'd save things for me that he knew I'd want. Don't want to know what he's in for. Anyway, just as I was thinking maybe I should rent a flea market booth, they closed my "store". The man with no name said "I'm sorry they won't let us help unload anymore. Someone was caught with a cell phone, and they thought he got the money for it from the "donations". So no more "shopping" while others hurl my reeking garbage. They still leave a few things pulled to the side, but when I asked the guy at the entrance if they could be taken/purchased, he said, "Nothing leaves the landfill. That's the rules." Pity. I'm sure the county could use the money. All good things must end.
