Quinoa is super high in protein if you are looking for feed. I think that beans are favorite, or cowpeas. If you grow Favas for a cover crop you can cut those and throw them in. I find my chickens love my too big zuchunis and greens of all types, but particularly chard.

This year I am growing cowpeas, golden quinoa and amaranth to harvest and store for winter feed.

If pen bound, any greens. If free range, they'll help themselves to what they like...............;)

In the chicken group they think he's Blue Columbian X Buff Orpington. I think that's a very good guess.

I always give my birds leftover kitchen lettuce, sweet pepper tops and seeds, apples with bad spots potatoes, raw or cooked and not eaten, ALL stale bread and crackers and cereal. In the growing season I feed them turnips, beet tops (and the tiny beets you accidentally pull up) carrot tops (unless I give those to the horses) and I try anything that I grow that isn't a spicy pepper.
