I want to start seedlings, and I have some lettuce and such seeds left over from last season, do you guys reckon that something like boston lettuce would do well indoors under a grow light? I'm like actually desperate to plant but it's January and I can't plant outdoors until at the earliest April. Anything else I can plant indoors?

I don't have a lot of room as I have to keep it out of the paws of my cat who seems to love eating any and all plants.

Hi,
First of all, WELCOME!

Are you looking to plant something you can continue to raise indoors, or are you looking for something to plant now that doesn't need to be moved out until April? Are you preferring a veggie or a flower?

Most veggies will need to be outside 3 weeks to 8 weeks after starting indoors. Or moved to a larger pot to finish off inside. Maybe try an herb so you can enjoy it inside for awhile?

I found a very fun but LONG project last August to be some Hibiscus shrubs. I have one in the window now, its only 12" high but it took some work to get going indoors. I'll move it out in the spring, as its got a long way to go still. Maybe try a perennial that needs the extra time so you can try for a first season bloom? Foxglove, or a dianthus might be fun!?

I hope that inspired you!
