Well I thought it would take 2 more weeks, turned out to be only about 1 more week. So here we have 1/2 the garlic harvested. Some are too tiny and didn't bulb very well, but only about 12 of those, had 5 bulbs break when I tried to pull them up so had to dig the bulb up myself (Those will get sun cured, brought in and then sliced and dried to ground up for garlic powder). Only found 1 bulb that was eaten by what I assume was a vole. So happy to say I pulled 70 bulbs today, and I think I have between 35-45 more bulbs I'm going to give a few more days.

The ones I pulled had finally just given in and flopped over. I've been letting them sun cure for the afternoon, then I will clean off the top dirty dry skin, remove the dried root for the most part and braid to hang on the front porch.

I did by FAR better with the garlic then I did my onions after everything. I blame the super cold snowy winter for my sad onions. ;)

Wow vfem, that's a lot of garlic!!! I harvested mine last week and cleaned them up yesterday. They are now in my kitchen hanging up in a basket. Next year I'm going to do more garlic and I'm planting onion from seed. I watched the Bayou Gardener on how to start onion from seed in the fall and have "transplants" in the spring.

Glad you had a good harvest and give the recipe for the dried ground garlic. I had a few bulbs to split also. Thanks, Melissa

P.S. I really don't mind garlic breath because I was probably eating it too, ;).

ETA: Are those "grocery store" garlics?
