Sometime back I read that red lettuce has more health benefits than green. If that is true, this variety, Garnet Rose, must be what Superman eats! I have never come across one as brilliant red as this one.

Wow! I usually grow Red Sails lettuce because it does well here and we like it. It looks good in a salad too. But yours! That would really brighten up a salad.

Is that a head lettuce or loose leaf?

I'm thinking: wrap holiday paper around a pot and use if for a centerpiece for Christmas dinner. I just hope it tastes as good as it looks. :)

Beautiful lettuce. Love the Christmas idea! I planted a mixed packet last fall and had colorful salads all winter. I bought the same lettuce mix this year and they are just starting to come up.

That lettuce is a beautiful shade of red that sure would brighten a salad and add interest to a BLT! So, have you eaten some yet?
I purchased seed for six varieties we have never heard of, or had, a few weeks ago and I am trying them one by one. This one is a few weeks away from a salad at this point. We have one called Schweitzer's Mescher, a bibb lettuce, right now and we kind of like that one; also, a romaine called Winter Density which we also like.
