I'm not sure that it takes an Australian news source to tell us in the USA the result but with a few people controlling so much of our food, it shouldn't be surprising that fingers point to American billionaires in the industry. One also wonders how much influence some of these people have on the US media.

The average American farmer doesn't fix fences and drive tractors. Thanks to market concentration, there is now a handful of companies that dominate the US food system, and they are impacting Australia too.

while it may not be easily profitable to be a small farmer at least those who can manage to buy land (or borrow it ) and have a garden can still make it worth the effort.

and gladly we can also manage those areas for more diversity and a help to other creatures.

i can certainly say that the birdies love it here and annually must drop at least 100lbs of free fertilizer.
