Getting Rid of Wasps and Hornets?

I would like to know if any of you have any ideas for getting rid of Wasps and Hornets.
We must be having the wost year for them this year.
I have been hit by them at least 7 times in the past 2 weeks.

Any help would be great..

We found out a couple years ago that spraying with Japanese beetle spray will keep them away for a long time, over a year. They won't build their nests where it's been sprayed.

My FIL had suggested we do this and we did once and it did work, but we were concerned with the toxicity of it and decided to deal with the wasps on a case by case basis instead.

I got stung by a wasp about two weeks ago and had a severe allergic reaction and now I have to carry an Epi-pen. My doctor said next time I got stung I could count on going to the ER. So in light of that, we've gone back to using the Japanese beetle spray since I can't stay out of the barn--too many critters I have to feed and care for.

It's a concentrate that you mix up and apply with a pump sprayer.

Wow, Journey!!

Chris, my technique is to buy the foam spray. Get as close as I feel comfortable. Make a full commitment -- and SPRAY the dickens out of the nest.

. . . then, turn 180 and walk as quickly as I can away - no looking over shoulder. County line isn't too far . . .

DW tells me, if I get stung more than once it will kill me . . . i'm not looking forward to testing that claim.

My wife is going to pick up some cans of the foaming spray.
I had 2 bigger nests in the Poultry Breeding Pens I would say they are around 6 to 8 inches round. I went out tonight and hit them with some 3M Super 77 Adhesive Spray.
( I had it in the shop ) and let just say the Hornets are not going any where.

I've been a little nervous lately. I'm getting quite a few yellow jackets in my garden. It's not that they aren't welcome. They are doing a great job on some of my pests but I haven't been able to follow any of them back to the nest. I'd sure hate to accidentally dig into it. They're a mite tetchy about that.

I have 4 nests of yellow jackets and can't go out in my yard without being stung. got me 4 times today and I am swelling up!! benadryl is my friend. how do I get rid of them I sprayed the nests. and painted the nests, put a garden hose into the nest in one the hose went in 6 inches!!! but the little stinkers don't care!

Hello Hoodat, good to see you on TEG today. I have been lucky not to dig upa yellow jacket nest yet. (I saw where they where digging. Whew!

It's been a few years but I still use the same technique. What's new is that I was stung on both arms at once a few years ago and didn't die!

What do you mean that you "painted" the nest? House paint, @the1honeycomb ?

Are they in the ground or just hidden somewhere? It was ground dwellers that stung me, not here at home. Here we mostly have the paper wasps and I get them just as reported in my previous post. Staying away from the nest for a day allows any not at home when I visited to file their insurance claims and move into a motel or FEMA trailer ...

The bees are in the ground. I used everything I had in my basement flying insect spray, ant and roach spray, and red marker paint. then I put the hose in the hoses and was amazed by the amount of water that filled those holesI will get the foam and the japanese beetle spray in the morning!!
